Patreon Launch + New Music Video

It’s been a busy few weeks for us… and the whole world for that matter!
As the election and the pandemic continue to dominate the news cycle, we can see the difficult road ahead. We all have a lot of work cut out for us, and a long way to go.

To supplement all that, and to help pace ourselves, we are trying to focus on the positives:

The rising of the sourdough, the joy of working up a new tune, a long warm bath...

And...

Our Patreon page has just launched!

We're so excited to be on this new platform and to welcome our first Patrons!

Through Patreon we are offering a window into our creative process, a place for us to share ideas, works in progress, and enrich our community.

We have set up four tiers with various perks and prices, so that Patrons can choose the rewards they want and pledge the amount that works for them.

Every month we will release new exclusive content for our Patrons, including; songs, videos, and other never before seen/heard materials!

In other good news we are thrilled to announce that the new music video for 'Cruel Mother' is being premiered by 'Folk Radio UK' TODAY!

Music is helping us through these hard times, we hope it helps you too.

Into Unchartered Waters

The murder of Blarney crows comes down to peck at the corn and pumpkin remains in the front garden, as the clock ticks ever closer towards December.

Just a little over a month until we may have to part ways indefinitely.

We have been apart for the last two months and are grateful to be reunited once more in Ireland, just a stone's throw from Blarney Castle, where we take shelter with a musician friend, Leah Sohotra, and her family.

Ireland is back in it's highest level of lockdown, but we are finding ways to keep busy and we’ve been able to busk some in Cork City.

It's been a joy to spend more time street performing and get back to our roots!

Leader Of The Pack

Our latest cover song is out tomorrow but you guys get to see it first! (We thought it was crying out to be rearranged into a 'Ye Olde Style' murder ballad...) Click here to watch the video!

The song was requested by one of our Kickstarter donors and is part of their reward!

The support over the last 11 weeks has been amazing, thank you!

To see people tuning in from all over the world and showing their love by buying our music, sharing, and donating has really kept us going since we started the series.

Unfortunately, due to current travel bans and visa restrictions, we can no longer remain in the same country and are forced to go our separate ways.

These digital concerts have been a learning curve but thanks to you, we’ve enjoyed every step of the way!
We hope to incorporate more live-streams into our touring schedule, once we can get back on the road. How long this will be is still a mystery, your guess is as good as ours.

Our Patreon page is in the pipeline and will be launched within the next few weeks. We’ll be able to use Patreon as a way to continue working together from afar. We’re excited to use this platform to share our new music with our community while our collaboration is remote.

So help us to make this Saturday a gig to remember, tune in, pull up a chair (and a box of tissues) or put on your dancing shoes, and we’ll see y’all there!

New Music Video 'The Blackest Crow'

Click the photo to watch the new video!

Click the photo to watch the new video!

This parting song tells the tale of two lovers, faced with the heartrending burden of saying goodbye, and promising to love each other 'til death.

Although many lines from this song are traced back to old Scottish and English ballads, the earliest record of a version similar to ours was published in by Henry Belden in Missouri, 1906 (Source) under the title ‘Banishment’.

Many different versions now exist on both sides of the Atlantic and it has become a firm favourite in the Appalachian folk scene.

Like many European songs, The Blackest Crow has been enriched by the crossing of cultures in America and it's lyrics remain deeply relatable, poignant, and emotional.

Check out the YouTube video here or by clicking the photo above!
You can also find it on Facebook here (please give it a like and a share if you’re signed up!).

ADT Live-stream Saturdays

IMG_1362.jpeg

Hey folks, we are taking to the stage (ahem, living room) every Saturday to share our music with y'all!

Watch via our Facebook page and Instagram page at 8PM GMT (that’s 3PM ET).

Until recently, touring was our life and our bread and butter. We miss playing live! We miss you guys, the human connection, the vibes, we even miss hauling our gear around… well almost.

It doesn’t quite scratch the same itch, but we are grateful for the opportunity to perform these concerts online. We are hoping they will help to keep us afloat until we are able to tour again. And we have new songs to share with you all!

Instead of charging for tickets, we’re accepting donations via PayPal.me and will be giving a percentage of the takings to different organisations and charities each week (see live videos for details).

You do not need a PayPal account to give us a tip. When the live video has begun, simply follow the link in the video description and enter your card details. You can also find the link in our Instagram bio and by clicking here. We like using PayPal, however we understand some people prefer not to use it. Our bank details can be given upon request!

It’s worth mentioning that you don't need a Facebook account to watch the live-streams. Anyone can tune in by heading to www.facebook.com/adifferentthread once the show has begun so feel free to invite friends and family that don’t have Facebook accounts, or start a listening party with Facebook friends!

Everyone who shares the video to their Facebook timeline will be entered into a prize draw for a chance to win some of our merch and art! There will also be a separate Instagram live-video, but if you want to enter into the prize draw you’ll have to share the live-stream on Facebook!

In our experience, the streaming quality seems to be better on Facebook when compared with Instagram, so we recommend it!

We also recommend using good headphones or plugging us into a sound system for the best listening experience.

Thanks to those who have already tuned in to our online concerts. Your donations and support are keeping us going!

Pull up a chair or put on your dancing shoes and we'll see you there!
